Arsenal Receive Injury Boost as Raheem Sterling Nears Return
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has offered an encouraging update on Raheem Sterling's knee injury amidst concerns over the squad's depth. The news comes as fellow winger Bukayo Saka is set to be sidelined for at least two months due to a hamstring injury.
Sterling, who sustained his knee injury during training around the same time as Saka's setback, initially caused worry among fans. However, Arteta shared a more optimistic outlook on the Chelsea loanee's recovery.
"The news with Raz I think is better," Arteta stated. "We probably expected the knee injury to take longer, but it has evolved positively over the last few days. Hopefully, that's good news because we need him."
Sterling's swift recovery is a welcome relief for Arteta, whose attacking options were significantly reduced following Saka's absence. Gabriel Martinelli filled in on the right wing during Friday's 1-0 victory over Ipswich Town but struggled to make a significant impact alongside Gabriel Jesus and Leandro Trossard.
Despite the challenges, Arteta expressed confidence in his squad’s ability to manage without Saka, highlighting Sterling’s return as a vital boost to their efforts.
