The character of Blue Beetle was created by Charles Wojtkowski and first appeared in “Mystery Men Comics #1” in 1939. There have been multiple incarnations of the character over the years, but the film will focus on the most recent version, Jaime Reyes, who was introduced in 2006.
The cast of the film includes Xolo Maridueña as Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle, along with supporting actors such as Adriana Barraza, who plays Jaime’s grandmother, and Angelica Celaya, who plays Jaime’s mother.
Blue Beetle is set to be released exclusively on HBO Max in the United States, with no confirmed release date as of April 2023.
